Canadian Voice of Women for Peace – Dinner Event

VOW 2015 DInner Announcement Date: May 14, 2015

Dinner event to provide opportunity for 110 guests to hear short presentations from 5 notable women – Canadian Voice of Women for Peace’s inaugural honorary board. These are : Dr. Mary-Wynne Ashford , past Co-President of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War ( by video); Kim Phuc, a very active UNESCO Ambassador for Good Will and Vietnam war survivor; Jean Augustine, Ontario Fairness Commissioner and a pioneering black woman M. P.; Judy Rebick, a feminist leader of Canada’s women’s movement and the inaugural Sam Gideon Chair of Social Justice ( Ryerson University); Metta Spencer, Prof. of Sociology and Peace Studies ( ret’d) at University of Toronto in Mississauga, founder and editor of Peace Magazine. VOW Co-Chairs, Lyn Adamson, a conflict mediator, and Janis Alton, a long-time feminist disarmament advocate will speak briefly in the course of introducing the speakers. Among the guests we seek are young women, age 17-35 as part of our educational strategies to inform and engage youth in the challenge of building a more peaceful world. CPREP’s contribution helped to fund the participation of 10 youth as well as event material and partial distribution of follow-up newsletter.
