warmuseum1-l Announcement Date: May 30, 2013

C-PREP generously supported The Canadian Network to Abolish Nuclear Weapons with their activities in May 2013 which included a gathering at the Canadian War Museum, and meetings with the Canadians for a Nuclear Weapons Convention (CNWC) with Professor Lawrence Wittner and the Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (PNND).

Messages were delivered by Chris Grout and Mathieu Kimmel from the PNND Division of Foreign Affairs, followed by round table discussions examining next steps to abolish nuclear weapons with parliamentarians, academics, faith groups and the public. The suggestions put forward are being refined for inclusion in an abridged report.

The funding also supported a public lecture by Professor Wittner, followed by a panel chaired by Doug Roche with Ambassador Zhigalou of Kazakhstan, Cesar Jaramillo, Project Ploughshares, and Kathleen Walsh, Rideau Institute which was attended by approximately 60 people.
